the website transition

yeah, i'm so pumped i'm actually going to have a website that i can use. this week i figured out how to use the Zend Gdata framework to put my blog on wajiw.com . it's pretty f-ing sweet. my site looks a little weird right now but i'll have that fixed in no time. it might even be fixed by the time you're reading this! soon my site might even be useful for people other than myself, but we'll see how much of my free time i get to spend on it.

in work news we hired a CpE who's younger than me! i can't believe that i'm not the youngest here, and by ~10 years. he seems like a good fit too. time will tell.

so it's my first week of running every day so far(3 days in a row). the whole getting up at 5 seems harder the more days in a row you do it. yesterday my body practically made me wake up, and today it kept telling me how nice 10 more minutes of sleep would be. i think it's because of my monday workout. monday, after i ran, i did a core workout(sit-ups/dead lifts) along with some arm and shoulder exercises(push/pull-ups/curls) and today, 2 days later, i'm soooooore. i need to start working yoga into my routine before this muscle tightness starts affecting my runs more than it did today. getting back into shape is f-ing tough! but the benefits have been very personally rewarding :) hopefully i can meet my goal and lose the 15 more pounds i have to reach my goal in 3 weeks. if only...

red

so bonnaroo was a success. the trip...sucked sweaty donkey balls. took me 2.5 hours to get out of the chicago traffic and into the real driving. traffic was nuts this weekend for some reason. i took 94 to get out and 90 coming back. each time thinking i was gonna be so smart for picking the road less traveled. WRONG. taking 90 back in might've been a little bit faster, by my 10 minutes or so. i HATE traffic more than almost anything. not being able to get where i want, when i'm supposed to be able to triggers this impatient switch i have and i can't take it. it's got something to do with my lack of forgiveness when it comes to inefficient things. my biggest pet peeve, by far, is inefficiency.

b-roo was great once i got my mind settled. the music there isn't 100% my taste, but i didn't really go there for the music. i went there for the atmosphere and the girl, and it was worth the fucking drive. stupid fucking drive. i don't know if i'm gonna do 11.5 hours in a car by myself anymore for a weekend music festival, but this time it was ok.

it's a camping festival, so you basically get parked in this gigantic field, and scramble to claim your space with the surrounding vehicles. we had it pretty good i thought. we got one of the few spots that had shade, which was key. we then had a portable shower that was nice the one time used it. not too shabby.

24 hours

bonnaroo tomorrow. yes. spectacular. as long as my car can make it, the weekend is sure to be nothing less than amazing. that's all i will say, until i experience it.

i'm trying to integrate this into my website. there's a possibility i might have to switch to another service if i can't get it to work...fyi.

here's an obvious quip i just thought up:
"programmers are just artists who are better at math"

have a great weekend internetland

apathy is the glove into which evil slips its hand, especially when it comes to your teeth

i was one of those kids growing up that never worried about anything. i did just enough school work to get what i want, played all the sports i possibly could thinking nothing could ever happen, and i rarely brushed my teeth and never had a cavity. well 5 years of college changed all that. i had to bust my ass to get my degree/job, i'm so beat up and out of shape from neglecting my self the past 2 years that it's going to take me at least 6 months to get back into any kind of shape, and the constant soda pop and late nights, killed my teeth.

i just got back from my second part of my four part series 'time to fix wajiw's teeth'. thank god my work is so cool about it, i can get it all done in a reasonable amount of time, it just sucks. i have work that needs to be done on like half of my molars. kids...brush your teeth and floss in college, cause that soda acid really comes back to bite you on your ass. also, all this work is costing me like 3 grand all together(minus the grand that insurance is paying for).

today seems like a shity day, but most mondays do. i just feel lonely today coming back to my apartment by myself. i guess i just miss my girl. but i do get to see her in a few days down in Tennessee. bonnaroo better be sweet that's all i gotta say. driving back and forth by myself is not going to be the highlight of the trip.

finally...it's back up

last night i finally figured out how to get my server set back up on my new comcast internet. my website is, of course, www.wajiw.com, and non of the pages are up yet besides the home page. i haven't decided on the layout yet either, so things might not get going for a little while, but at least it's up. soon i'll have this up there along with my technical blog, pictures, and a bunch of other crazy cool stuff.

tomorrow i'm heading to east lansing. it's comforting only having one day away from andrea this week. having the distance isn't as bad when you get to see each other almost every week. one really cool thing about this week is we decided to go down town to the park and have a picnic. there is a bus that passes right outside my apt. and ends up all the way downtown next to the park, which is hella cool. we get there and find out Yo-Yo Ma is giving a free concert! what great dinner music. we then went to the ferris wheel at navy pier, which was only worth it cause i brought my camera. otherwise it only lasts maybe 5 minutes. what a rip. also one tiny scoop of ice cream there is like $4. thank god we didn't eat dinner there. all in all, it was one of my favorite trips ever down town, and hopefully many many more will follow this summer.

trains hate bikes, but f*ck them!

today i finally got to bring my bike to work. the 1.1 mile ride from my apt was crazy. i don't get why drivers get so pissed at people who ride bikes on the road. bike riders are supposed to be on the road so they don't take a chance at hurting pedestrians. for the majority of the ride it's ok, because the road is actually 4 lanes, but when there's a car parked on the same side as i'm riding, i have to go around it, and cars don't like that. i am wearing a helmet now though so i'm not too worried if i take a fall. it's just concrete right?

yeah well i took my bike onto the train, not knowing that you have to have a strap to hook it up to the side. the conductor made me look like an idiot for not knowing, but they didn't exactly make it too clear on the site that you have to have one. he gave me a brochure and there was one little line that says that you need one. so instead of using the one i have i'll have to buy one from jewel. it just pissed me off the guy was so rude to me even though i had no idea i had to have one. like he was going to kick me off the train or something.

well AJ'll be here later tonight, so we'll have to see what this city has to offer us. i'm looking forward to a great weekend, especially sunday night ;-)
